May 15, 2005 Meeting Report

General Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 3:10.  Twenty-four members were present.

Chair John Michael announced that ABD would have a booth at the Cochise County Picnic May 21.

  1. Events Working Committee – Lois Kolesar brought the merchandise her committee has designed and arranged for ABD to sell. The items are for sale or can be ordered. She announced that the items would also be for sale at the Cochise Picnic. Lou Anne Kirby asked that the group find a person to facilitate our hospitality table. Jack Cox took the supplies with him. There were no volunteers.

  2. Luau – Vista Michael announced that Jack and Joyce Cox mailed out 100 Luau tickets invitations prospective guests at their own expense. (I'm not sure I have this correct. I am asking Vista what she exactly said. If any of you know, tell me, please.)  John has invited Jim Peterson, Chair of the State Dem. Party, and Fred Duvall, Carter Administration Secretary of State to the Luau.

  3. Survey – John Michael explained the survey is an attempt to understand what the northeast AZ counties feel (think). When the survey is ready, it will also be administered in Patagonia, Nogales, and more of the State. The survey will also serve as a good first contact with non-ABD member Democrats. and as a basis for additional subsequent contacts. Members were paired off randomly and administered the survey to each other and the process was timed. Afterward, members made comments and suggestions for improving the survey. Steve Strom offered his help.

  4. Pop Quiz – Members present responded to a short quiz about what they would like to have at our meetings in the way of food themes and speakers. A tally of responses follows.
